Errata: 2005 Update 3rd Edition Student Workbook

Updated 12-4-14

  • First pages of selected problems. All of the problems were supposed to start on right-facing pages so that filled-in solutions could be torn out and turned in. Unfortunately, some do not, so if the preceding problems are assigned the first pages of these problems will also be torn out. This problem will be remedied in subsequent printings, but for now the following first pages can be downloaded and printed by students (or by their instructors, who can photocopy and distribute them):

Box 5.46-3. In Line 1, change the units of n0 from kg C5H12/min to kmol C5H12/min. In Line 2, multiply the right-hand side of the equation by 1.15 (since air is supplied in 15% excess).

  • p. 5-24, Prob. 5.46:
-- In the RT/P calculation for air in Box 5.46-7, change 9 to 13.

  • pp. 7-13 and 7-14, Prob. 7.41: On the flow chart and thereafter, change xo to yo (4 occurrences on p. 7-13 and 4 occurrences on 7-14) and change x1 to y1 (4 occurrences on 7-13 and 3 occurrences on 7-14). The changes are to be consistent with the usual text nomenclature of labeling vapor-phase mole fractions as y and liquid-phase mole fractions as x: they do not affect the solution.
